Job description
Digital Business Division DBD are the custodians of the customer experience ensuring seamless, secure, and trusted interactions for agricultural trade and biosecurity. From permits, audits and certifications to declarations and compliance checks, our platforms and products are where industry and government connect. Our work is about more than technology. Our purpose is to deliver digital and data services that make agricultural cross border trade and travel easier, safer, and stronger for Australia. Key duties and responsibilities To support this effort, we are seeking multiple Software Developers across a range of technology stacks and disciplines. These roles are vital in continuing to build, maintain, and enhancing mission-critical export & import systems used by millions of Australians. We are looking for developers with experience in one or more of the following areas: Languages/Frameworks: • C++, C#, .NET Core / .NET Framework • Java / Spring Boot • JavaScript / TypeScript • React, Angular, or similar modern front-end frameworks Preferred Skills: • RESTful API development and integration • Microservices and containerisation (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) • Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GovCloud environments) • Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices • Version control using Git/GitHub/GitLab • Automated testing and CI/CD pipelines Required skills and experience • Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline • Previous experience working on large-scale or government digital transformation initiatives • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and security-conscious environment • Familiarity with government digital service standards and accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG) Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria Weighting 1. Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following languages/Frameworks: • C++, C#, .NET Core / .NET Framework • Java / Spring Boot • JavaScript / TypeScript • React, Angular, or similar modern front-end frameworks Weighting: 50% 2. Previous experience working on large-scale or government digital transformation initiatives on export and/or import systems Weighting: 20% 3. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Weighting: 20% 4.
