(Closed for Invites) Network Architect

The Department is seeking to procure a highly skilled Network Architect through a labour hire arrangement to provide strategic architecture leadership across the Department's enterprise network, cloud and infrastructure environments.  The role is required to support the development of enterprise architecture artefacts, network modernisation initiatives, cloud adoption activities, technology governance, security uplift programs and the integration of business, information, application and infrastructure architectures. The position requires extensive experience operating within a complex Australian Government environment, including demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth security frameworks, cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Azure, and the ability to engage with senior executives and business stakeholders. Key duties and responsibilities Lead the development and maintenance of the Department's network, cloud and infrastructure architecture to ensure alignment with business objectives, security requirements and enterprise architecture principles. Design and govern secure, scalable and resilient network solutions across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments, including Microsoft 365, Azure and associated infrastructure platforms. Produce and maintain architectural artefacts including high-level designs, detailed designs, reference architectures, standards, roadmaps, technology strategies and technical decision papers. Provide expert architectural advice across application, integration, data, security, network and infrastructure domains to support project delivery and operational outcomes. Lead architecture reviews and assurance activities to ensure proposed solutions comply with departmental standards, cyber security requirements, PSPF, ISM and other relevant government policies and frameworks. Develop and maintain business, information, application and infrastructure architecture models to support strategic planning and technology investment decisions. Oversee technology governance processes, including architecture review boards, design approvals, technical risk assessments and architecture compliance reviews. Support major ICT programs and projects by ensuring network and infrastructure solutions are fit-for-purpose, operationally supportable and aligned with enterprise architecture strategy. Identify, assess and manage architecture-related risks, dependencies and constraints, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented. Promote adoption of architecture standards, best practices and reusable patterns to improve consistency, interoperability and long-term maintainability across the Department's ICT environment. Experience across multiple domain architectures including: • application services • integration services • data services • security services • network and infrastructure services • monitoring and managing of subscriptions • Experience in a Federal government department and understanding of policies, frameworks and security controls • The ability to produce well-formed architectural design documentation 2. Evidence of provision of leadership to multi-disciplinary groups across business, application, information and the solution architects across the department • Experience in developing working models of business, information, application and infrastructure architecture layers • Ability to develop cost modelling and advise on cost management 3.
