Integration Support Specialist

Unsolicited emails will not be answered.  The Integration Specialist is a hybrid business analysis and hands-on API/ ETL development role responsible for translating business and data requirements into reliable, secure and reusable integration solutions. The role works across the full delivery lifecycle—from discovery, process and data analysis, requirements definition and source-to-target mapping through to pipeline development, testing, deployment, monitoring and operational support. The Integration Specialist works closely with business analysts to refine business needs into developer-ready integration requirements. The role jointly documents API user stories, acceptance criteria, functional and non-functional requirements, interface behaviours, payloads, validation rules, error responses, security requirements, dependencies and data mappings. It provides the technical integration perspective needed to ensure requirements are feasible, testable, traceable and sufficiently detailed for developers, testers and support teams. The role also develops and maintains ETL and ELT workflows using approved integration, database and scheduling tools, applying sound engineering, security, data quality and support practices. The key stakeholders associated with the role include: Director, Development and Integration Integration Tech Lead and Integration Engineers Business Analysts Architects Software Engineers Reporting to the Integration Technical Lead, and in line with DHA strategic objectives, the Integration Specialist has the following key responsibilities: Lead discovery activities, workshops and interviews to understand business objectives, operational processes, data needs, pain points and integration constraints.Analyse current and future-state processes, systems, interfaces and data flows, identifying opportunities to simplify, automate and standardise integration outcomes.  Key duties and responsibilities Position Description: Work collaboratively with business analysts to translate business needs into clear API and integration user stories, functional and non-functional requirements, acceptance criteria, interface specifications and source-to-target data mappings that are ready for developer implementation.  Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines that extract, transform, validate and load data across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.  Use SQL and approved integration, database, API and scheduling tools to implement transformations, orchestration, error handling, restorability, logging, monitoring and alerting.  Profile source data, define transformation and reconciliation rules, and implement data quality controls to support accuracy, completeness, timeliness and traceability.  Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure solutions align with DHA integration patterns, data standards, cyber security requirements and reusable service principles.  Document API requirements with business analysts and developers, including endpoints, methods, request and response payloads, field definitions, validation and transformation rules, authentication and authorisation, error handling, performance expectations, dependencies, data contracts and versioning considerations.  Participate in backlog refinement and planning sessions with business analysts, product owners, developers and testers to clarify requirements, resolve ambiguity, identify technical constraints, estimate delivery impacts and maintain traceability from business outcomes through to implemented APIs.  Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, support procedures, data lineage artefacts and operational handover materials that enable sustainable service ownership.  Develop and execute unit, system and integration tests; support business acceptance testing; diagnose defects and production issues; and coordinate remediation through to closure.  Participate in code and design reviews, configuration management, release planning and continuous integration and deployment practices.  Manage assigned work and dependencies, maintain traceability from requirements to delivered functionality, and provide clear status, risk and issue reporting.  Contribute to the integration catalogue, reusable assets, delivery standards, templates, governance controls and continuous improvement of team ways of working.  Provide specialist advice to technical and non-technical stakeholders and communicate complex data and integration concepts in clear, practical language.  Mandatory Requirements: Demonstrated experience applying business analysis techniques across the software delivery lifecycle, including discovery, requirements elicitation, process analysis, user stories, acceptance criteria and solution validation.  Demonstrated experience collaborating with other business analysts to document API requirements and prepare high-quality user stories, acceptance criteria and developer-ready interface specifications.  Strong hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and supporting ETL or ELT pipelines in complex enterprise environments.  Advanced SQL capability and practical experience with relational databases, data profiling, data transformation, query optimisation and troubleshooting.  Experience producing source-to-target mappings, interface specifications, data models, process maps, data lineage and other implementation-ready artefacts.  Experience with enterprise integration or data integration tooling and schedulers in on-premises, cloud or hybrid environments.  Sound understanding of integration patterns, APIs, file-based interfaces, data contracts, batch processing, error handling, security and operational monitoring.  Demonstrated ability to investigate complex business, system and data issues, identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions.  Experience developing test cases and reconciliation controls and supporting system integration, regression and business acceptance testing.  Strong stakeholder engagement and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and negotiate clear, testable outcomes.  Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams, manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.  Strong documentation, configuration management and knowledge-transfer practices.  A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, computer science, information systems, data engineering or business analysis, or equivalent substantial industry experience.  Preferred Requirements: Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, Oracle scheduling, performance tuning and data warehousing.  Experience with Talend or comparable enterprise ETL and data integration platforms.  Experience with MuleSoft, REST, SOAP, JSON, XML and API-led connectivity.  Experience working with Salesforce, Technology One, Java or .NET application environments.  Knowledge of dimensional modelling, data governance, metadata management and data quality practices.  Experience with DevOps practices and tools such as Git or Bitbucket, Jenkins, automated testing and deployment pipelines.  Relevant certifications in business analysis, data engineering, integration platforms, cloud services or agile delivery.
