Application Technical Specialist

IP Australia requires a Senior Technical Lead to support cloud enablement, infrastructure transformation and operational improvement activities across AWS and Azure environments. The role will operate as a senior hands-on technical lead, providing technical leadership, architecture development, remediation support, operational uplift and capability building. The successful candidate will help deliver agreed cloud and infrastructure transformation priorities, address technical debt and impediments, improve platform stability and supportability, and strengthen APS capability through mentoring, coaching, documentation and knowledge transfer. The Technical Lead will work with IP Australia teams to develop practical technical recommendations, architecture artefacts, roadmaps, standards, decision records, runbooks and support documentation. The role will also support completion of priority AWS and cloud transformation activities, develop migration, optimisation and operational uplift roadmaps, and provide technical advice across cloud, infrastructure and platform services. During the evaluation stage, shortlisted suppliers may be invited to participate in interviews. Additionally, IP Australia retains the right to seek verbal or written feedback from referees and may enter into negotiations to obtain the Best and Final Offer (BAFO) from selected suppliers. Should a provider modify any specified resources or business operations, the Commonwealth also reserves the authority to conduct a comprehensive review of personnel prior to finalising the contract. **Please note that IP Australia will not be extending this opportunity to any additional Sellers** Key duties and responsibilities The successful Technical Lead will be required to - 1.             Leading agreed cloud and infrastructure transformation activities across AWS and Azure environments. 2.             Identifying, prioritising and remediating technical debt and technical impediments affecting delivery outcomes. 3.             Developing technical assessments, recommendations, architecture diagrams, technical designs, standards, roadmaps and decision records. 4.             Delivering agreed technical work packages and remediation activities. 5.             Improving the stability, resilience, supportability and operational maturity of cloud and infrastructure platforms. 6.             Producing operational documentation, runbooks, procedures and support artefacts. 7.             Providing technical leadership and advice across cloud, infrastructure and platform services. 8.             Supporting migration, optimisation and operational uplift planning. 9.             Mentoring and coaching APS staff to improve internal capability. 10.          Delivering structured knowledge transfer and handover activities to reduce long-term reliance on external specialist knowledge. 11.          Preparing a final handover report covering completed work, outstanding risks, recommendations and transition arrangements. Performance measures (KPIs) The successful Service Provider will be expected to deliver agreed cloud and infrastructure outcomes, improve operational maturity, maintain fit-for-purpose documentation, build APS capability through knowledge transfer, and support effective governance, reporting and transition activities.
