Job description
The Data and Evidence Unit requires specialist expert business and data intelligence analyst with conceptual and practical experience with the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing's aged care data warehouse, to continue to seamlessly integrate into the existing data team and its processes, and continue to contribute to and support data projects, business intelligence activities, training and upskilling of staff, and strategic responses to emerging new data systems, and reporting requirements. Other related aged care data support, analysis, and management activities may be undertaken as required by team and business prioritisation, and as agreed. Key duties and responsibilities Key duties of the role will include: Collaborating with stakeholders and other business and team experts to identify and document business requirements for data-based solutions Analysing and interpreting complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform business decision-making Strategically responding to emerging data priorities and assisting in solutions where relevant to these priorities Acting as a subject matter expert on business processes, operations, and strategies to inform the development of effective data solutions Working closely with IT teams to ensure that data-based solutions are aligned with business needs and requirements, including technical advice for platforming and architecture of the data warehouse Utilising technical reporting tools, including but not necessarily limited to Power BI, SQL, Python, or others as relevant, to visualise and communicate data insights to stakeholders and contribute to the business intelligence base for the department Monitoring and evaluating the performance of data-based solutions to ensure they are meeting business needs and making a positive impact on business operations Contributing to business verification testing activities, and broader initiatives to help end-users understand and effectively use data-based solutions Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in data analytics, business intelligence, and related fields to inform ongoing improvements to data-based solutions. Data communication: Level 3 (DCF) Can develop and deliver advanced level narrative to communicate insights drawn from complex data sources and outputs Maintains understanding of new trends and innovations relating to data communication (including Artificial Intelligence-based technologies) and develops skills in these where relevant Understands the importance of translating technical concepts into non-technical language, and can adapt communication effectively for a range of audiences. Can use innovative approaches to improve the process of summarising data into meaningful narratives Uses high quality analytics and visualisation to communicate insights from data Can effectively listen to technical and business stakeholders, and understand and interpret their data needs 2. Data outputs, products or services: Level 3 (DCF) Has expert knowledge about the production of a data output, product or service Provides expertise in developing new products or data services to meet evolving requirements, needs and opportunities. Can build the capability of others in the delivery of data outputs, products or services 3. Statistical data analysis: Level 3 (DCF) Contributes to the development of new functionality for statistical analysis applications, which enables new ways of doing things Can write custom scripts and code in a statistical computing language to conduct complex analytical tasks Maintains understanding of new trends and innovations relating to statistical data analysis (including Artificial Intelligence-based technologies) and develops skills in these where relevant 4.
