Cloud Engineer

The successful Cloud Engineers will work within the Cloud Services team to design, build, and enhance DCCEEW’s cloud transformation and modernisation initiatives.  This role will actively contribute to DCCEEW’s digital transformation agenda through the delivery and uplift of cloud infrastructure, automation, infrastructure as code, and alignment with enterprise cloud architecture, security, and compliance frameworks. The role is critical to ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable cloud platforms that meet departmental delivery, security, and governance requirements.  The role supports multiple internal stakeholders, including Application Delivery teams, Cyber Security, Network Services, and ICT Operations.    This role directly supports the Department’s cloud first strategy and is critical to maintaining secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective cloud platforms.  In addition, Cloud Engineers may be required to support AWS infrastructure as part of the Department’s multi cloud approach. Key duties and responsibilities The key duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Expertise in designing, implementing, delivering, and supporting M365 solutions for Government or other large organizations in hybrid and cloud only environments in line with Australia Government Cyber Security requirements   Experience with some or all of the following M365 products:   Microsoft Entra and associated components  Microsoft Teams , sharepoint and onedrive  Microsoft Purview   Microsoft Security Centre   Microsoft Exchange   Microsoft Endpoint Manager   Licence Management   Automation and implementation via Infrastructure as Code solutions desirable   Development of documentation such as Detailed Designs, High Level Designs, As-Built-As-Configured and Standard Operating Procedures   Proven ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams of business, technology, external suppliers and other subject-matter experts.   Well developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including non-technical managers   Participation in daily standups, team and project meetings and other associated rituals   Other tasking as required by the Program Any relevant industry certifications and qualifications   Identity & Access Management (IDAM)  Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and related identity platforms.  Design and implement identity lifecycle management processes including:   User provisioning  Deprovisioning  Role changes  Access reviews  Manage authentication services including:   Single Sign-On (SSO)  Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)  Conditional Access  Passwordless authentication  Implement and support Privileged Identity Management (PIM) and privileged access controls.  Configure and maintain identity federation and hybrid identity solutions.  Conduct regular access reviews and certification activities to ensure compliance with security policies.  Investigate identity-related incidents and implement remediation actions. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Demonstrated experience designing, implementing and supporting Microsoft Azure and M365 cloud solutions within large and complex environments, including Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Endpoint Manager and cloud-based identity services. 2. Demonstrated experience developing, automating and managing cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tooling and modern DevOps practices to deliver secure, scalable and resilient cloud platforms. 3. Demonstrated experience implementing and supporting cloud security and identity solutions, including authentication services, Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Privileged Identity Management (PIM), identity governance and compliance with Australian Government security requirements. 4. Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation and effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders and service providers to deliver cloud transformation, modernisation and operational outcomes. Desirable criteria 1. Relevant industry certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft Identity and Access Administrator Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent cloud certifications.
