Job description
The User Experience Designer is responsible for delivering high-quality, evidence-led design outcomes that support the delivery and continuous improvement of digital products and services. Working within multidisciplinary teams, the role leads end-to-end design activities, from discovery and research through to ideation, prototyping, testing and implementation. Applying Human-Centred Design practices, the successful candidate will solve complex problems and deliver solutions that balance user, business and technical needs to achieve product outcomes. The role requires strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships, facilitate collaboration and influence decision-making. The successful candidate will be comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing competing priorities and taking initiative in complex environments. The role contributes to the evolution of design standards, reusable patterns and design system adoption to promote consistency, accessibility and quality across digital products and services. The User Experience Designer will help strengthen design maturity by advocating for user-centred approaches, supporting outcome-focused planning and embedding effective design practices throughout the product lifecycle. They will work closely with product, delivery and technical teams to improve ways of working and achieve better outcomes for users and the business. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound judgement, a proactive mindset and the ability to independently manage and deliver design activities while making a positive contribution to multidisciplinary teams. Key duties and responsibilities Deliver end-to-end product design, user-experience design across discovery, ideation, prototyping, testing and implementation. Apply Human-Centred Design methodologies to understand customer needs and deliver evidence-based design solutions. Conduct and apply user research, usability testing and other insights to inform decision-making and improve customer experiences. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to balance user, business and technical requirements and inform product direction and priorities. Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships and facilitate discussions to achieve shared outcomes. Develop design artefacts including customer journeys, user flows, wireframes, prototypes and high-fidelity designs. Communicate design rationale, insights and recommendations to stakeholders and delivery teams. Work collaboratively with product, delivery and technical teams in an Agile environment to support the successful implementation of design solutions. Contribute to accessibility, usability and design quality across products and services. Manage competing priorities and work effectively in complex and ambiguous environments. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, design standards and shared design practices, while helping teams adopt user-centred and outcome-focused ways of working. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. 3+ years' experience in Product Design, User Experience Design or related disciplines. 2. Tertiary qualifications in User Experience Design or related disciplines 3. Proven user-experience and product design delivery in similar organisations, project and product environments. (Described in the role requirements) 4. Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams and in Agile product development environments. 5. Ability to work independently and deliver outcomes in complex and ambiguous environments. 6. High level proficiency in the use of Figma, Miro and design collaboration tools Desirable criteria 1.
