Role/s: 2 x EL1 DevOps Engineer The EL1 DevOps Engineer (Labour Hire) operates under broad direction to lead highly complex initiatives that drive quality outcomes across the NDIA. This position requires a high level of autonomy and expertise, engaging in advanced problem-solving and issue management within the organisation’s core functions. The role will involve making strategic decisions and providing high-level advice and support to senior leadership. The EL1 DevOps Engineer (Labour Hire) will collaborate closely with key business stakeholders and our local full-stack team to support and enhance project development within the NDIA. The role is also responsible for managing critical internal and external stakeholder relationships, representing, and negotiating on behalf of the NDIA to promote the agency’s objectives across various forums. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Citizenship: As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check. Labour Hire Licence: Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted. Key duties and responsibilities Design, development, deployment, and support of the Agency’s Cloud & Data Infrastructure. Prioritising and managing the work queue to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives. Ensuring that all solutions adhere to integration best practices and are well documented. Collaborating with business stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. Playing a key leadership role in project teams, utilising an agile development framework. Engaging with stakeholders to define project requirements, set priorities, and deliver results. (Note: Responsibilities may evolve in line with changing organisational priorities.) Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure infrastructure and services, with proven ability to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud solutions. 2. Strong experience in building and deploying DevOps practices, tools, and continuous delivery pipelines, including GitLab, Artifactory, and Jira, to streamline development workflows. 3. Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and management. 4. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, combined with a solid understanding of agile development methodologies to support collaborative, iterative development. 5. Ability to write and maintain moderately complex code across multiple programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and Golang. 6. In-depth experience with containerization, cluster deployment, and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient application delivery and management. Desirable criteria 1. Proficiency in administering AWS and Azure infrastructure, expanding multi-cloud capabilities. 2. Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for securing sensitive data and managing secrets across cloud infrastructure. 3. Designing and managing intelligent CI/CD automation where AI agents execute discrete, permission-constrained tasks (e.g., auto-remediation, documentation, or testing).
