Lead UXUI Designers

Role/s: 2 x EL1 UX/UI Designer As an EL1 UX/UI Designer, you will provide specialist leadership across complex digital initiatives that improve participant, provider and staff experiences. You will remain actively engaged in hands-on design work, leading the resolution of complex experience challenges while helping multidisciplinary teams deliver accessible, high-quality and evidence-based outcomes. You will lead strategic and complex design activities, influence decision making across multidisciplinary teams and help shape the Agency's broader approach to experience design, accessibility and digital service delivery. The role is responsible for providing authoritative advice, navigating competing user, business and technical considerations and driving high-quality experience outcomes across a diverse portfolio of work. You will play a key role in improving consistency, quality and knowledge across the Agency through mentoring designers, contributing to standards and governance, advancing design systems and helping establish modern design practices that support scalability and long term maturity. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and strategic thinking capabilities, with accountability for influencing outcomes beyond individual projects and contributing to the ongoing evolution of the Experience Design practice. Experience Designers are expected to contribute to both delivery outcomes and the ongoing development of organisational capability through reusable assets, standards, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.   Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Key duties and responsibilities Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Lead and contribute to complex UX/UI design activities across discovery, design, validation and implementation. Lead the resolution of complex user, business and technical challenges. Develop and review implementation-ready designs, interaction specifications and supporting artefacts. Provide authoritative advice on UX, UI and accessibility matters. Influence decision making across multidisciplinary teams and programs. Drive the evolution and adoption of design systems, standards and reusable design assets. Mentor designers and contribute to Experience Design capability uplift. Drive knowledge sharing, organisational learning and continuous improvement. Identify and apply contemporary design approaches, tools and technologies to improve outcomes. Demonstrated experience leading complex UX/UI design activities across discovery, design, validation and implementation to deliver high-quality digital products and services. 2. Demonstrated ability to lead the resolution of complex user, business and technical challenges, balancing competing priorities and delivering evidence-based design outcomes. 3. Demonstrated experience providing authoritative advice on UX, UI, accessibility and human-centred design practices, influencing strategic decision making across multidisciplinary teams and programs. 4. Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, including demonstrated ability to build productive relationships, facilitate collaboration and influence senior stakeholders in complex environments. 5. Demonstrated experience driving design quality, consistency and capability uplift through mentoring, coaching, design governance, standards development or knowledge sharing initiatives. Desirable criteria 1. Experience leading design teams or communities of practice within complex digital or service delivery environments. 2. Experience delivering accessible digital services aligned with WCAG and inclusive design principles. 3. Experience working within government, public sector or highly regulated environments with complex stakeholder landscapes. 4. Experience supporting large-scale digital transformation, service reform, participant experience or customer experience initiatives.
