The Digital Business Division (DBD) provides retail digital services for export and biosecurity regulation, operations, and compliance at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. This generates a range of efficiencies and delivers best-in-class digital and data products. The division is responsible for a suite of mission-critical systems and services through enterprise data governance and data analysis services. Key duties and responsibilities The Senior Software developer will be expected to: Design, develop and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using the Microsoft .NET and React Deliver high‑quality, secure, and scalable APIs and backend services aligned to approved target architectures Contribute to solution design, technical refinement, and estimation within agile delivery teams Collaborate closely with architects, DevOps, testers, business analysts, and product owners Perform code reviews and mentor other developers to uplift overall team capability Proactively identify and resolve technical issues, performance bottlenecks, and defects Support system integration, testing, and release activities in line with STEPS delivery phases Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams Essential Demonstrated senior‑level experience developing solutions using C# and .NET (.NET Core / .NET 6+) and React Strong experience building RESTful APIs and microservice‑oriented architectures Experience with cloud‑hosted solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure Solid understanding of secure coding practices, performance optimisation, and resilience Proven experience working in agile, multi‑disciplinary delivery teams Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a pragmatic and outcomes‑focused approach Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across delivery streams Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion.
