Senior Data Analyst

Role/s: 1 x APS6 Data Analyst The APS6 Data Analyst is expected to undertake complex, technical work under limited direction that is compliant with agency policies, procedures, standards, methodologies The position is not a team leadership position, but as an experienced team member the role is required to coach and guide junior staff and contribute strongly to problem solving and the delivery of high quality outcomes in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Citizenship: As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check. Labour Hire Licence: Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted. Key duties and responsibilities Active participation in small, multi-disciplinary teams, in the design, build, deployment and maintenance of data assets and data products in the NDIAs cloud data platform. Presentation of complex technical options, decisions and results tailored to audiences with different levels of technical and data literacy. Data wrangling, profiling and quality assessment of new or changed data sources and new data integrations Translation of business rules and requirements into coded transformations Design and prototype development of new data attributes and products Data validation testing including defect and anomaly remediation Shared accountability for data products that are robust and error free Maintaining code base and documentation standards, and sharing knowledge across analyst teams Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Extensive data analysis experience with a strong ability to prototype high quality solutions from complex disparate datasets. 2. Advanced programming expertise (6+ years) across SQL, SAS, R, and/or Python. 3. Proven ability to work independently with a clear purpose and deliver high-quality outcomes with limited supervision under tight deadlines. 4. Ability to work as part of a team with active collaboration, sharing of skills and capacity, and shared accountability for team outcomes 5. Experience working within an industrialised Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment and understanding of data pipelines, modelling and data and reporting platform architectures 6. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to translate business discussions into data flows and process documentation while collaborating effectively in team settings. Desirable criteria 1. Experience with Snowflake, or other cloud data platforms and SAS Viya platforms. 2. Familiarity with Fabric Power BI reporting platform 3. Adaptability and willingness to learn new analytics platforms and tools as required.
