SFIA 2 IT Test Analyst A SFIA 2 IT Test Analyst tests the function and interfaces of the systems which make up the Department’s core business processing systems, sourcing and analysing design documents, and assists in the preparation, peer-review and execution of test scripts. A SFIA 2 IT Test Analyst works in an agile/iterative environment and utilises test management tools to prepare and execute test scripts, document results, analyse data, prepare test artefacts and escalate issues, defects and incidents in line with assigned work scope from the Scrum Master or Team Lead. They may be expected to lead sections of work within a release and be required to undertake specialist or technical research and analysis activities. They communicate across a range of media types, using various styles to suit different audiences and understand and embrace the agency’s various ways of working and are agile in their approach to collaboration and delivery of services. Key duties and responsibilities SFIA 2 IT Test Analyst Prepare, create, maintain, execute and review test requirements and scripts, derived from design analysis and liaise with design, build and business teams Document test plans in line with the department Test Strategy Adhere to Defect Management strategy to raise defects and perform troubleshooting, gathering information for defect entries and identifying points of failure Identify data requirements to satisfy test cases and create, and maintain test data Provide guidance on testing documentation and manage escalated issues arising from testing, including those related to quality Adhere to best practice testing methods and agency quality standards in the maintenance of documentation to support and validate test activities and contribute to the development of new work practices Liaise with Business Analysts, System Analysts, Architects and Business Subject Matter Experts to clarify intended system behaviour and supporting business processes Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts including the co-ordination of UAT with multiple business teams Assist the Enterprise Testing and Quality Assurance section and other teams with testing activities as required Provide feedback/reports on estimates of testing effort and progress for project management and planning activities Contribute to quality assurance reviews and make recommendations for improvements Liaise with stakeholders to test outcomes to support achievement of business requirements and work collaboratively to support implementation of business improvement strategies and change initiatives Work with various testing methodologies including Waterfall and Agile Transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices The seller must ensure that the Labour Hire worker performing the services during the term of this contract, facilitate an effective transfer of skills and knowledge to the buyer to enable full use of services and deliverables and associated documents. Demonstrated experience analysing business requirements, user stories, specifications and design documentation to develop and maintain effective test cases, test scripts and test data. 2. Demonstrated experience executing manual tests, identifying and documenting defects, supporting defect investigation and retesting activities, and ensuring testing outcomes meet quality standards. 3. Demonstrated ability to investigate issues, analyse test results, identify root causes and provide practical recommendations to support quality delivery outcomes. 4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with business stakeholders, subject matter experts, developers and project teams to achieve testing outcomes. 5. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, work under limited direction, adapt to changing requirements and deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes. Desirable criteria 1. Degree in Information Technology and ISTQB Foundation Test Analyst 2. Understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and quality assurance practices including an awareness of software development lifecycles (SDLC), defect management processes, and agile ways of working. 3. Knowledge of test design techniques, test execution processes, and the use of testing tools to support project delivery 4.
