Senior HPE, Cisco Network Specialist

The ACIC is seeking a Network Specialist to support the Infrastructure Operations Network Team. The Network Specialist will provide expert technical support and management of the ACIC's network infrastructure and vendor network equipment, ensuring reliable service delivery, alignment with current and future business requirements, effective stakeholder engagement, and the ongoing currency and maintainability of the ACIC network environment. The ACIC requires specified personnel to: Obtain the ACIC's Organisational Suitability Assessment (OSA) prior to commencement. Have an Australian Government security clearance (AGSVA) to the minimum of Negative Vetting Level 2 (NV2) or be willing to undergo and obtain and AGSVA NV2 clearance. As directed by the ACIC, complete a Deed of Confidentiality or Non-Disclosure Agreement prior to commencement or comply with processes required to engage the Specified Personnel under section 48 of the Australian Crime Commission Act (2002). Key duties and responsibilities The principal accountabilities and responsibilities of the Network Specialist include: Supporting and maintaining network equipment from vendors including HPE, CISCO, FortiGate, Palo Alto and Peplink. Managing and supporting Network Security technologies and services. Supporting Virtualised networking products and environments. Administering and troubleshooting LAN, MAN and WAN environments. Managing and supporting Carrier circuits. Diagnosing and troubleshooting Physical connectivity issues. Providing specialist support for CISCO focusing on MPLS, IPsec and other Enterprise WAN and LAN implementations. Administering and utilising Network Management and Monitoring Solutions including SNMP, Syslog, TACACS, etc. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Contemporary broad network domain knowledge and technical skills including experience working in a multi-vendor environment – ACIC operates an amalgam of ICT infrastructure, including but not limited to HPE, Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, and Peplink. 2. Exceptional communication and engagement skills with a range of stakeholders, including senior users. 3. Experience administering secure networks compliant with the Australian Government Information Security Manual. 4. Proficiency in translating business requirements into technical capabilities. 5. Experience using automation tools for the management of network and server infrastructure. 6. Experience implementing network management and monitoring solutions ie. DCIM, SNMP, SYSLOG, Authentication, NTP. Desirable criteria 1. Strong experience with Cisco implementations of BGP, MPLS, IPSEC, QoS, and other enterprise WAN and LAN technologies. 2. Strong experience with Palo Alto Networks NGFW including Global Protect VPN, User-ID, App-ID, Content-ID, and Panorama centralised management. 3. Strong experience administering Linux servers including management of proxies, DNS, web-servers, host-based firewall and AV tools.
