Senior CIAM Software Engineer

Role: EL1 Tech Lead – Consumer Identity & Access Management (CIAM) As a CIAM Tech Lead, you'll be a hands-on software engineering leader responsible for the technical implementation of consumer identity and access management solutions. You will build features, perform code reviews, troubleshoot complex implementation issues and lead software engineering practices within the team. You’ll be working alongside less experienced engineers, serving as a go-to person for difficult technical problems, designing solutions for advanced problems, and mentoring other engineers to foster a culture of innovation. You will support Scheme Identity leadership in estimation and delivery planning, and collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate integration with other NDIA systems. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Key duties and responsibilities Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Leading the implementation of CIAM solutions Upholding a high-quality, maintainable codebase Solving complex technical problems Contributing to estimation and refinement Upskilling and mentoring team members Contributing to solution design for advanced CIAM challenges Leveraging emerging technologies and innovative approaches, including AI Providing guidance and technical expertise to assist in project planning Collaborating with other teams to integrate CIAM solutions with other systems (NOTE: the key responsibilities of the role are based on current priorities and may change over time) Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Demonstrated, advanced object-orientated programming and extensive experience with JavaScript & TypeScript. 2. Demonstrated, advanced unit & integration testing, including familiarity with test frameworks like Jest. 3. Extensive experience implementing complex CIAM solutions, including experience with OAuth2.0 and OIDC. 4. Experience customising and integrating CIAM products such as Auth0, Okta, ForgeRock, Ping, etc. 5. Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor or similar) to improve engineering productivity and code quality. 6. Proven ability to mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment. Desirable criteria 1. Experience configuring and customizing SAAS CIAM services 2.
