Lead Actuary

Role/s: 1 x EL1 Actuary The EL1 Actuary (Professional Stream) is an important team leadership position within the NDIA and will have delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and risks across wide-ranging activities ofsubstantial depth involving significant detail. The role requires providing leadership, control, planning, resource management, performance management and decision making for the Team Membership and assigned Contractors working within the Work Area. The role will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in very complex problem solving and issues management within the Actuarial Insights and Monitoring functions. The position requires exercising sound decision-making and judgement to produce high level policy advice and operational support. The EL1 Actuary (Professional Stream) is required to coordinate and assume responsibility to undertake detailed or sensitive projects that may include performing varied activities involving many different and unrelated processes or methods that may impact on the strategic or operational outcomes that support theNDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”. The role is responsible for actively managing key internal and external stakeholder relationships and where required will represent and negotiate on behalf of the NDIA to advance the NDIA’s interests across a range of forums. Supplier Briefing: A supplier briefing will not be held for this role. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Citizenship: As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check. Labour Hire Licence: Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted. Key duties and responsibilities ·       Providing statistical and actuarial advice. ·       Providing oversight and management of reporting, analysis and data management activities as required, including regular performance monitoring. ·       Designing actuarial, statistical and mathematical models to undertake analytical work that respondto business issues, including actuarial monitoring and analyses, data tabulations, scheme projectsand cost benefit analyses. ·       Undertaking ad hoc modelling requests and report production. ·       Presenting the outcomes of work undertaken, tailored to context via verbal and written communication. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Establishing an action plan for self and others to complete work efficiently and on time by setting priorities, establishing timelines, and leveraging resources. 2. Using effective involvement and persuasion strategies to gain acceptance of ideas and commitment to actions that support specific work outcomes.
