One (1) Senior Data Centre Design Infrastructure Engineer

Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services. The Data Centre Design Infrastructure Engineer plan, design, maintain and build core IT or digital systems network infrastructure that are needed for daily business operations to build a secure, reliable, and scalable network, cloud, or server environments. Key duties and responsibilities The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to: Managing a multi discipline team with complex and different interfaces; Providing strategic planning, mapping and modelling development; Providing concise data reports and clear data visualizations for management; Producing creative data visualizations and intuitive graphics to presenting complex analytics; Pinpointing trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets; Providing advice on information and data governance and standards; Triaging code problems and data-related issues and identify risk; Documenting all aspects of the data design and decision; Cleaning and pruning data to discard irrelevant information; Scheduling and managing tasks within a team; Assisting in improving the maturity of information management within the Department; Discovering trends, patterns and stories told by the data, structured and unstructured, and presenting them to stakeholders. Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices. The Specified Personnel will also be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to: Site design specific and generic patterns; Network Topology drawings; Room and rack layout drawings; Power topology drawings; Data Centre/ICT Room power and cooling capacity; Rack size, Rack layouts and Rack locking; Rack security classification; Key-Safe key allocation design; Key safe access control groups. All deliverables performed by the specified personnel must: be performed or delivered promptly and without delay in accordance with the timeframes notified by the buyer from time to time; and meet the assessment and performance criteria set out in any monitoring and performance assessment processes notified to the seller from time to time. Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Availability management level 5: Provides advice and guidance on the planning, design and improvement of service and component availability. Investigates all breaches of availability targets and service non-availability and initiates remedial activities. 2. Capacity management level 4: Monitors service component capacity and initiates actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures. 3. IT infrastructure level 4: Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. 4. Problem management level 4: Initiates and monitors actions to investigate and resolve problems in systems, processes and services. Determines problem fixes and remedies. 5. Programming/software development level 3: Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors moderately complex programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result. 6. Systems design level 5: Designs large or complex systems and undertakes impact analysis on major design options and trade-offs. Ensures that the system design balances functional and non-functional requirements. Desirable criteria 1. Demonstrated experience in coordinating resources and accurate recording of effort. 2. Proven ability to produce technical documentation and data centre management. 3. Proven ability to work within a structured ICT and project management governance framework and deliver results that adhere to organisational standards and policies. 4. Proven excellent customer service experience.
