Job description

The department is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering large-scale, complex Government projects. Candidates must demonstrate expertise in the department’s core platforms—Siebel, Salesforce, MuleSoft and possess deep knowledge of platform integration, data migration, and procurement, including managing external software vendors. Key duties and responsibilities Project Managers are expected to lead with capability and confidence across the following areas: Leadership & Delivery: Drive major IT-enabled projects across branches or divisions, ensuring delivery of outcomes through large, complex, cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams. Infrastructure & Transformation: Deliver IT infrastructure and transformation initiatives across public cloud and data centre environments in dynamic, high-pressure settings. Technology Integration: Implement new systems to enhance business practices, manage end-user change, and coordinate across multiple systems integrators in multi-vendor environments. Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively and manage relationships with senior executives, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders. Collaborative Culture: Foster a supportive, innovative team environment where ideas are challenged constructively and creativity is encouraged. Governance & Reporting: Maintain strong governance practices, manage risks, issues, dependencies, resources, finances, and provide timely, accurate reporting. Team Leadership: Set direction, lead and support project teams to achieve outcomes, and establish behavioural and performance expectations. Documentation & Assurance: Oversee development of project documentation in line with departmental governance and assurance frameworks. Change Management: Identify and manage project changes, ensuring consistent information flow across workstreams. Technical Oversight: Lead diverse technical teams with understanding of legacy, contemporary, and emerging technologies, aligned with departmental platforms. Relationship Management: Build and maintain effective relationships with technical staff, business stakeholders, suppliers, and industry bodies to deliver well-defined solutions. Cross-Stream Collaboration: Coordinate with other project streams to manage interdependencies and ensure integrated, value-driven outcomes. Planning & Risk Management: Develop and maintain forecasts, schedules, contingency plans, and risk mitigation strategies. Report regularly to the Program Board. Delivery Accountability: Own project progress and resource utilisation, initiate corrective actions, and escalate emerging issues in line with established practices. Knowledge Transfer: Facilitate transfer of technical and corporate knowledge to permanent staff and actively contribute to continuous improvement. Flexibility: Perform other duties as directed, including support for projects outside the initial assignment area.
