Data Governance Program Manager

Governance and operating model Establish and document data ownership, stewardship and accountability arrangements. Define and implement fit-for-purpose governance processes and artefacts. Assess current governance arrangements and recommend improvements where required. Work with existing governance forums and stakeholders to ensure appropriate oversight of data-related decisions. Maintain governance records, standards, decisions and supporting documentation. Data visibility and understanding Develop and maintain visibility of key datasets, data flows, integrations and dependencies. Establish and maintain a register of data assets, consumers and reuse opportunities. Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand current and future data requirements. Provide recommendations on improving data management practices across platforms. Data quality and standards Establish foundational data quality practices, measures and standards. Define and document critical data elements and quality expectations. Identify data quality issues and coordinate remediation activities with stakeholders. Support the development of data models, standards and supporting documentation. Safe and compliant data use Develop standards and guidance for the appropriate use of sensitive and personal information. Support approaches for non-production data management, including synthetic and obfuscated data. Ensure alignment with security, privacy, records management and information governance requirements. Support audit, assurance and compliance activities where required. Delivery integration Embed data governance and quality considerations into project and platform delivery lifecycles. Introduce data checkpoints and governance activities into design, build, test and release processes. Partner with delivery teams to ensure data requirements are considered early and consistently throughout delivery. Promote proactive management of data risks and obligations. Stakeholder engagement Facilitate workshops and discussions with business and technical stakeholders. Build strong working relationships across delivery, architecture, security, privacy and governance functions. Produce clear and practical recommendations, papers, briefing materials and governance artefacts. Provide expert advice on data governance and management matters. Key duties and responsibilities Required experience:Demonstrated experience establishing or uplifting data governance capabilities within complex organisations.Experience working across business, technology and governance stakeholder groups.Strong understanding of data governance, metadata, data quality and stewardship concepts.Experience developing governance frameworks, operating models, standards and processes.Excellent stakeholder engagement, facilitation and communication skills.Experience working within large-scale digital delivery or enterprise platform environments. Desirable:Experience with Salesforce or large CRM platforms.Experience within Australian Government or other highly regulated environments.Knowledge of privacy, records management and information governance obligations.Experience supporting data governance transformation or organisational uplift initiatives.
