Lead Data Engineers

Role/s: 2 x EL1 Data Engineer The EL1 Data Engineer is a senior member of the Data Services team and provides technical leadership across enterprise data initiatives. The role is responsible for hands-on development, technical design, data modelling, code review, and implementation activities across enterprise data platforms. The Data Engineer works closely with business stakeholders, architects, analysts, developers, testers, and support teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and maintainable data solutions while driving continuous improvement across data engineering practices. Supplier Briefing: A supplier briefing will not be held for this role. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Citizenship: As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check. Labour Hire Licence: Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted. Key duties and responsibilities Provide technical leadership and guidance to data delivery teams through design reviews, technical advice, and implementation best practices.Design, develop, and maintain enterprise data integration solutions, ETL processes, and analytical datasets.Lead the technical implementation of new data assets from analysis and design through to deployment and operational support.Review and enhance data delivery frameworks, development standards, and engineering practices to improve delivery efficiency and platform performance.Develop and maintain SQL analytical code, ETL processes, and supporting technical documentation.Conduct peer reviews of code, data models, and technical designs to ensure compliance with established standards.Analyse business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions and data assets.Collaborate with business stakeholders, data consumers, developers, testers, and support teams to deliver enterprise data solutions.Facilitate knowledge transfer and capability uplift activities across the Data Services team.Contribute to backlog prioritisation, planning activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
