Senior Cloud/Azure Infrastructure Engineer

Treasury is seeking an experienced Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to support the delivery of the Treasury’s Digital and Cyber Security Strategy Program 2026-29 (the Program). The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will play a key part in the delivery of the Program and the continued uplift of Treasury’s tech estate, including but not limited to;  Design and implementation of Azure and on-premise technical solutions  Collaborating with cyber security teams to uplift and secure infrastructure and resources   Enterprise monitoring, maintenance and upgrades to Treasury’s hybrid technology stack  Supporting other project teams with infrastructure requirements and capabilities  The candidate will be based primarily in Canberra onsite in the Treasury Parkes Office as part of a small team of engineers, working closely with other operational and cyber security teams to deliver program outcomes while maintaining the quality of service expected by the Treasury's internal clients and external stakeholders.   Key duties and responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of Azure and hybrid technical work packages as part of the broader program of work with Treasury.  Implement and maintain infrastructure solutions in Azure and on- premise using industry-standard engineering practices  Maintain and monitor Azure and on-premise infrastructure, including patching, upgrades, performance monitoring and availability monitoring and remediation   Implement, monitor and maintain backup and disaster recovery capabilities.  Implement and maintain security controls in alignment with common frameworks and departmental security requirements, working closely with cyber security teams.  Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture documents, as built designs and operating procedures.  Provide technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge transfer to APS and junior staff  Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Demonstrated experience designing and implementing secure and scalable solutions in a hybrid technology stack, utilising Azure and on-premise technologies 2. Demonstrated infrastructure engineering experience across a range technologies, such as: a. Azure, including Entra b. Virtualisation platforms, such as Hyper-V or VMWare c. Infrastructure management and monitoring tools such as SCVMM and SCOM d. M365, including Copilot, Defender and Purview e. Exchange Online f. Windows Server g. Back up and data recovery technologies, such as Commvault, Veeam 3. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in implementing and monitoring security controls to ensure alignment to industry and government frameworks (eg PSPF, ISM, Essential 8) 4. Demonstrated stakeholder management capability and the ability to work collaboratively to deliver results as part of a delivery team 5. The extent to which the proposed price and overall costs represent value for money for Treasury, having regard to the response quality, scope, risks and benefits of the proposed candidate(s). Desirable criteria 1. Demonstrated Federal Government experience in a PROTECTED environment or above 2.
