Senior DevOps Engineer

Role/s: 1 x EL1 DevOps Engineer The EL1 DevOps Engineer (Labour Hire) will work closely with key business stakeholders, CRM developers and testing teams to enable and support Salesforce and MuleSoft development across the Agency. The role will also manage critical internal and external stakeholder relationships, representing and negotiating on behalf of the NDIA to support delivery outcomes and advance Agency objectives across a range of forums. Supplier Briefing: A supplier briefing will be held for this role on Tuesday 29 September – meeting details will be posted in the “Q&A” section of the RFQ for invited Sellers only. Rate: The proposed rate should reflect candidate's skills and experience against the Evaluation Criteria. Candidates that do not demonstrate these criteria will not be assessed. Candidates should be aware that rates may be negotiated further as part of the selection process. Citizenship: As part of the eligibility and suitability requirement, NDIA seeks Labour Hire Workers who are Australian citizens only. Successful candidates will be required to furnish valid evidence of citizenship during the Pre-engagement Check. Labour Hire Licence: Applicable for ACT, VIC and QLD: Labour hire licences are required in the state that specified personnel are being contracted. Key duties and responsibilities Design, development, deployment, and support of the Agency’s Cloud & Data Infrastructure. Prioritising and managing the work queue to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives. Ensuring that all solutions adhere to integration best practices and are well documented. Collaborating with business stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes. Playing a key leadership role in project teams, utilising an agile development framework. Engaging with stakeholders to define project requirements, set priorities, and deliver results.  (Note: Responsibilities may evolve in line with changing organisational priorities.) Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Each response is limited to 3000 characters. Essential criteria 1. Extensive hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure and services, with proven ability to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud solutions. 2. Strong experience in building and deploying DevOps practices, tools, and continuous delivery pipelines, including GitLab, Artifactory, and Jira, to streamline development workflows. 3. Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and management 4. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, combined with a solid understanding of agile development methodologies to support collaborative, iterative development.. 5. Ability to write and maintain moderately complex code across multiple programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and Golang. 6. In-depth experience with containerization, cluster deployment, and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient application delivery and management. Desirable criteria 1. Demonstrated experience working with Salesforce, MuleSoft and/or AWS environments, including Kubernetes-based platforms. 2. Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for securing sensitive data and managing secrets across cloud infrastructure. 3. Designing and managing intelligent CI/CD automation where AI agents execute discrete, permission-constrained tasks (e.g., auto-remediation, documentation, or testing). 4. Demonstrated experience performing or leading GitLab to GitHub migrations within a complex SDLC environment supporting Salesforce, MuleSoft or comparable enterprise technologies.
