Senior Data Analyst

The National Emergency Management Agency is seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst to support the delivery of key data and analytics initiatives within the Data, Business Operations and Technology Branch. The successful candidate will provide analytical expertise to support the Hazard Insurance Partnership, business-as-usual reporting and analytics activities, and the uplift of the agency's cloud-based analytics capability. The role will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, including the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the Australian Climate Service, and other government and industry stakeholders. The engagement will also support capability development within the National Emergency Management Agency through mentoring, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of contemporary analytics tools and practices, including Microsoft Fabric. Key duties and responsibilities The successful candidate will: Undertake data extraction, integration, transformation, analysis and reporting activities to support operational and strategic priorities. Support the delivery of the Hazard Insurance Partnership and associated analytical work programs. Develop and maintain analytical products, dashboards, datasets and reporting solutions. Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, insights and opportunities to support evidence-based decision making. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver analytical outcomes. Support the transition of analytical workloads and reporting capabilities to cloud-based platforms, including Microsoft Fabric. Contribute to data governance, data quality and documentation activities. Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to agency staff to build internal analytics capability. Prepare briefing material, reports, presentations and other analytical products for business stakeholders and executives. Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams, including data analysts, engineers, geospatial specialists and business stakeholders. The technical criteria for nominated personnel to be considered by the evaluation committee are: Integrate data: Level 1 (DCF) Has a basic understanding of how data can be linked with other data Understands what data integration is, including its benefits and limitations Understands what types of data can be combined for analysis 5. The technical criteria for nominated personnel to be considered by the evaluation committee are: Statistical data analysis: Level 2 (DCF) Can use specialist statistical applications for statistical models Is able to understand and amend existing code (programming language) to conduct analytical tasks 6.
