Software Engineer

Software Engineers have experience overseeing software development projects, writing optimised code, and provide technical leadership to a team of software engineers. They are responsible for the quality and functionality of the software produced by their team. Key duties and responsibilities Full stack - Software Engineer Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software, with Java as the primary development language and experience with modern Java frameworks or equivalent. Develop and support web applications, RESTful APIs, microservices and cloud-based services across the application and technology stack. Develop and support scalable and reliable applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS, including experience with containers and infrastructure automation. Apply contemporary software engineering practices including automated testing, code review, Git, CI/CD and version control. Work with relational and/or NoSQL databases and SQL in developing and supporting data driven applications. Apply secure software development practices, including authentication, authorisation and secure coding, and contribute to security and vulnerability remediation. Work effectively in Linux based environments and across modern application and cloud technologies. Collaborate with developers, product managers, scientists, infrastructure and security teams to solve complex problems and deliver outcomes. Contribute to the continuous improvement of ALA platforms, products and engineering practices. Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, initiative and the ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team. Technical skills 1.    Strong hands-on software development experience, with Java as a primary development language. 2.    Experience with modern Java frameworks and technologies, such as Spring Boot, Hibernate, Grails or    equivalent. 3.    Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs, web applications and/or microservices. 4.    Experience developing and supporting applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS. 5.    Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes or equivalet Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a response to each criterion. Understanding of application and cloud security principles, including identity and access management, secrets, encryption, TLS/SSL and modern authentication standards. 3.
