Data Architect

Data Architects design, create, deploy and manage the way data will be structured, stored, used, integrated and managed in IT systems. eSafety requires a pragmatic and solution focused Data Architect that will work to deliver on established and future Data and Information Roadmaps and Work Plans and continue to build on existing data practises and architecture to embed eSafety as a data driven organisation. The successful candidate will work within the Data, Information Management and AI team in the Business Operations and Technology Branch. They will also support key projects where data architecture or engineering advice is required. The candidate will be experienced in strategic and hands on data improvements for Cross-Organisation data, systems and insights with knowledge of the associated operations and governance, including in relation to sensitive data. Relevant systems include Azure Synapse, Microsoft Fabric, Dynamics365 and the Dataverse. Key duties and responsibilities Day to day activities and responsibilities Data Architecture Manage and mature the eSafety Data Platform (Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric) with an understanding of eSafety’s regulatory space, the sensitive data it manages and the systems it uses (including Dynamics365) Embed data architecture standards across the organisation including a baseline data architecture for new systems, data and metadata policies and standards, and a discoverable data inventory. Bring to the table an understanding of a wide range of contemporary data science and analytical tools and a high-level understanding of Power BI (at least). Support data technology management including defining requirements, evaluating, installing and maintaining data technology, and recommending solutions to improve new and existing database solutions. Collaborate on master data management solutions and data integration architecture that enable improved interoperability. Work with relevant governance roles to enforce standards and guidelines relating to data management. Data Modeller Investigate emerging corporate data requirements, and apply data analysis, data modelling and quality assurance techniques to support the migration of data as part of projects whilst establishing or modifying data structures and their associated components. Develop, manage and provide advice on data delivery architecture, including data integration, data warehousing, business intelligence, enterprise taxonomies and metadata architecture. Data Quality Management (DQM) Design, implement and monitor operational DQM procedures and performance. Contribute to, implement and/or establish data audit approaches using relevant tools and programming languages. Provide advice to database designers and application developers on the details of data structures and associated components. Support and facilitate the appropriate sharing of data. Adoption Oversee the implementation and adoption of appropriate tools and continual professional development. Plan and oversee technical aspects of data management projects, services and data governance activities Criteria The buyer has specified that each candidate must provide a one page pitch to address all criteria specified. This is equal to 5000 characters. Essential criteria 1. • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in a similar data architecture role • Data engineering experience • Strong knowledge of database structure, systems and data mining • Experience designing solutions that support PowerBI as the primary visualisation tool for reporting and dashboarding • Experience in developing technical system documentation, including, but not limited to: o System diagrams o Solution & Detailed design documents o System/business processes o Technical briefs • Experience producing solution/design estimations and costing for designs/solutions. • Experience providing guidance on data cleansing and transformation • Experience with relevant government Information Management and Data Management legislation • Able to work productively within a broad function Data team • Strong problem-solving skills.
